Of course companies love AI; it puts out bland stuff that appeals to everyone just enough to make products and ads. But art and people are made of mistakes and life experiences, which is why they are so beautifully complex. I hope that this AI surge creates a new movement that embraces imperfection.

The vast majority of all of this is entirely imagined. The advert is literally saying "look at what we've squeezed into a tiny device." The new iPad isn't realistically doing anything other devices can't do. All the things you're saying it represents, it doesn't. It's just a tool, and the extreme butthurt people are expressing is insane. It's like a mass delusional experience.

Stop buying appple in the first place. Buy something more dedicated the craft from say, Huion,XPpen, or even Wacom.

2:40. It also takes humans to make an iPad. Design. Software. Assembly. And most music these days (or other forms of art) are 90% computer generated or modified. There is literally no music on the radio that isn't in some way or form created by a computer.

This was a very powerful video, and the fact that it came from an Apple mistake shows just how the industry is in the middle of a seismic shift. I agree with much of your frustration, but I found myself getting caught up in a few of your details, not because I wanted to, but because this seismic shift is causing lots of people to re-evaluate their footing and general stabilities. I think the moment you talked about how AI replacing a drummer or bass player was so shocking, but I remember when the drum machine that you later suggested people use in order to just get back to playing, was actually a huge worry of musicians back in its initial days, too. Why replace a drummer with a box, and who's next were the arguments made. Today, people don't even think about how tools like drummers, loopers, sound libraries already do what is feared tomorrow. I think that for the longest time, Apple made it appear that in their places, they can be tools for those without the abilities, but they would try to make sure the human factor was always seen as the elevation of the art and act. Apple's ad was one of the first times that Apple took a step out further on the branch (more mainsteam and perceived-market-driven), and coming from them, the power was cataclysmic and the sheer tone-deafness of it was felt by nearly all creatives I have seen. This is in no way to be an Apple apologist (there are enough of them), because Apple has been tone deaf for far more than a decade now. I think it was a shock that they were so brazen about it. How this got through the proverbial committees is a testament to just how tone-deaf Apple has been on so many areas. You hit on a lot of great point that I too battle with in maintaining any belief in the Apple that we all hope is still inside Cupertino, though maybe it is time creatives start actually holding Apple to account. Apple was due for this, and while they will try to damage-control it, blaming this or that, the gravity of the message we send is only as good as the duration we are willing to continue to hold them accountable. Videos like this are important to culminate frustrated crowds, but in the end, they have shown that despite a lot of us screaming we are sick of thin and light only catch their eye when it turns black ink into red ink on balance sheets.

I'm glad the algorithm brought me here... I've been meaning to replace my iPad (which is genuinely pretty old at this point, so it's been having the battery life issues most Apple products do after awhile) but boy it is just not worth the money to upgrade given what I use the ipad for (literally just sketching design ideas for work, and maybe drawing simple art sketches that I MIGHT flesh out on my desktop PC later. I use an ipad just because it's more convenient than a big ol sketchbook). I do need something new, but between the cost and that ad, it's enough to get me looking at other company's tablets instead, oof.

I'm not a musician or a painter, but i know the sentimental attachment of artists have for their tools, and to watch all that get crushed in the ad to show the 'ipad'...yeah no, nothing will replace the feeling of the real thing

Apple has never really understood what it means to be an artist. There isn't even an "art" category for apps. After all these years! Creating art that isn't sourced from an Apple product isn't within Apple's field of view. I'm not going to fault them for having blinders on - they're just a business. A big, honkin', insensitive, out of touch business!

Excellent and honest review. I finally replaced my 2015 MacBook Pro with the Base model M1 MacBook Pro. Dude, this machine is so BEAST I’ll be good for years. My 2017 iPad Pro 12.9 is my daily driver for art. It’s getting a little long in the tooth, but truth be told if this is all I ever get, I’m happy. That being said, I’m excited to see what the future brings. If meh, then I will finally upgrade to M2 iPad Pro 12.9 for another 8 years or so.. May your next meal be delicious. Subscribed👊💥

I had to buy the 2022 m2 iPad pro because it was the only iPad that had "apple pencil hover" which is a feature that is pretty necessary feature for digital artists especially if you are using stage manager with another monitor hooked up, just gives you way better control and allows you to be more precise with all of your marks. That being said I shouldnt have to buy the most expensive biggest model of ipad when any other drawing tablet would have that same feature within it. They could totally put that feature into some cheaper and smaller ipads like their airs or normal ipads and I think that would be a no brainer to add. That being said since I already invested so much money into the ipad I am not looking to upgrade anytime soon so if there is anything I actually want from this showing it is going to be software features like updates to stage control, or opening up the iPad to new types of pro software, or just changes to iPadOS to be more like MacOS on the ipad. Right now I really just use my iPad for procreate, procreate dreams, DaVinci Resolve but I would love to use something like Blender, Unreal Engine, or zBrush on the iPad. Or more emulator support, Delta is pretty cool but I would love an iPad app instead of using a small mobile app with cropped edges on iPad, and getting Dolphin would be a dream because all my favorite games are on Gamecube. I pretty much use my iPad as my main computer and I really love it but there are hickups where I realize I just need to cave and use a computer instead, and when I bought this iPad I really thought there were going to be more and more "Pro Apps" and I am still waiting for them. An OLED screen or bigger iPad or fancier apple pencil really don't interest me at all.

I never owned an Ipad before, but I plan to upgrade to the new Ipad pro from a mid-range android tablet. I hope it will help me improve my art, so of course I am excited!

Im not excited because I have an Ipad pro but when ever I go out like in a coffee shop I tend to grab my sketchbook and pens. Maybe because of our subconscious always think that slippery glass surface is not good to draw with.

Speak for yourself I’ve been using an iPad Pro since 2016 and I upgraded every time one comes out except for the M2. It wasn’t much of a reason for me to upgrade, but I’m definitely upgrading this week.

So, I just tried this, on a more detailed model. Trying to add it to my spaceship, but all the greeble is just floating around the mesh.

I think the biggest reason why I kept going back to the Surface was because I could use Clip Studio even when offline. But then CSP switched to doing the "license check" and I could no longer use CSP if I was offline. I switched to an Ipad and Procreate because I can use it offline. That would be the biggest win for me, if I could use CSP offline again. I don't know if that's a Celsys thing or an Apple thing, but that's where I'm at. I agree that a pencil bundle would be awesome, too, though. And my birthday is May 9th. :D Happy birthday!
